Twice the Festive Fun as Port Broughton Kicks Off the Silly Season
There’s something special about Christmas at the beach – and this year, the festive cheer will be in full swing at the Top of the Yorke.
Port Broughton kicks off the celebrations on Saturday, December 13 with the annual Christmas Festival promising an afternoon and evening packed with fun, food, and plenty of festive spirit.
From 4pm to 9pm, the main street transforms into a bustling street party, lined with food trucks, gift stalls, and entertainment to keep the whole family smiling.
At 6pm, the Christmas pageant rolls through town – floats, music, tinsel, and of course, Santa himself.
Once the pageant winds down, Santa’s Cave will open up from 7pm, for the kids to meet the big man in red and snap a free photo to treasure.
As the sun sets, the community will gather for live Christmas carols performed by the Combined Christian Churches, followed by the lighting of the town tree– a picture-perfect way to welcome the festive season.
Santa’s Cave will reopen from December 15 right through until Christmas Eve, with a special Silent Santa session from 10am–12pm on December 15, designed to provide a relaxed, sensory-friendly experience for children with additional needs (bookings can be made by calling council on 08 8635 2107).
New Year’s Eve by the Bay
Then it’s time to swap the tinsel for sparklers as Port Broughton gets ready to send off 2025 with a bang.
On New Year’s Eve, the foreshore is the place to be. From 5pm, you can roll out a picnic rug, bring your own nibbles, or grab dinner from the food trucks before the sun sets over the sea and the sky lights up with a spectacular fireworks display at 9.30pm. Across the road, the Port Broughton Hotel will kick on into the night with live music.
It’s the perfect way to wrap up the year – a magical Port Broughton sunset, family and friends, good food, and a community that knows how to celebrate.
