Life is a Cabaret at Bundaleer Forest

Melissa Smith

Fringe in the Forest serves “Two shots of happy and one shot of sad” in its first cabaret show

Mary-Jane Hendry, lead vocalist of The Dry Martinis is taking a trip back to her hometown of Jamestown for a journey in song to the bottom of the glass with “Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad”.

An intimate cabaret-style event at Maple and Pine in the heart of the Bundaleer Forest, the four-piece band belts out tunes with shots of happiness together with a measure of heartache.

Red wine lovers themselves, The Dry Martinis have a passion for bringing performing arts to regional areas, promising an evening full of fun and also sombre moments as you’re taken on a musical wine adventure covering songs from various genres all about booze!

To take advantage of dinner before the show, Maple and Pine are flinging open their doors for a delectable dinner catered by Nickie Mead from Kavanagh Catering. Guests can enjoy a seated 2-course dinner of succulent Lamb or baked Barramundi topped off with a choice of delicious desserts with vegetarian options also available.

Served inside or on the wrap-around deck of the forest function centre, complimenting the menu are local Southern Flinders and Clare Valley Wines, Flinders Gin, beers, as well as alcohol-free options. Cocktails by George Jeffrey of Appila will add a little pizzazz to Maple and Pine’s first cabaret event.

Adding flavour to the dinner service, and back by popular demand, is talented acoustic guitarist and Federal Member for Grey, Rowan Ramsey. Featuring at the Bundaleer Forest Open Mic event in 2022, Rowan stole the crowd’s heart with his acoustic tunes and guitar prowess.

Book your dinner reservation by February 25 to secure a cabaret table. Show-only tickets are available until sold out with The Dry Martinis hitting the stage at 8pm.

The Fringe Forest bus service is available from Jamestown and bookings are a must!

Fringe in the Forest has three different events on offer over the Festival period, which wouldn’t be possible without the work of volunteers, Jamestown and Bundaleer businesses and the Adelaide Fringe Fund.
