Many South Australian brides still believe they need to head interstate to find the right wedding dress designer.
Dressmaker Kasia Litwinienko hopes to change that.
From her Willaston studio, she’s proving some of the state’s most beautiful gowns are being designed and created right here in South Australia. She also believes brides deserve the same choice and personalised service as anyone shopping in a capital city.
“I want every bride to feel like she’s the centre of it all,” Kasia said.
“It’s her day, her vision and her dress.”
From Poland to South Australia
Kasia has spent more than 35 years behind the sewing machine, beginning at just 18 in a clothing factory in Poland before eventually opening her own dressmaking business.
Twenty-four years ago, she packed up her life, bought a one-way ticket and moved to Australia in search of a fresh start.
She went on to work in Adelaide bridal houses, became involved in Adelaide Fashion Week and spent years honing her craft.
Then came COVID.
It was the push she needed to launch Dressmaking Boutique by Kasia from her home studio.
More Than A Wedding Dress Designer
Today, Kasia offers South Australian brides more choice than ever.
Alongside her bespoke dressmaking service, Kasia has launched her own bridal label, Kasia L, featuring 12 original wedding gown designs available to try on at her Willaston studio and at Brides and Bloom in Mawson Lakes.
For brides who already have “the dress”, she also offers bridal alterations, helping transform off-the-rack gowns into something that feels as though it was made just for them.
Kasia’s studio experience is deliberately private and relaxed. There are no crowded showrooms or rushed appointments. Every fitting is one-on-one, giving brides the time and space to talk through their ideas, ask questions and revel in the process.
Brides describe the experience as calm, supportive and seamless, praising Kasia’s attention to detail and the confidence they felt once everything came together.
A One-Stop Shop For The Bridal Party
Whether she’s creating a gown from scratch, perfecting an off-the-rack wedding dress or fitting out an entire bridal party, Kasia’s approach is always the same – every bride deserves to feel like the centre of it all.
Although the bride might be the star of the show, she’s rarely the only one needing something to wear.
From bridesmaids and flower girls to mothers of the bride and groom, school formals and even men’s suits, Kasia has become something of a one-stop shop for special occasions.
Making Brides Feel Beautiful
As a wedding dress designer, Kasia knows fashion trends may come and go, but for her the goal has always stayed the same.
Creating a dress that doesn’t just look beautiful, but makes the woman wearing it feel beautiful too.
“I love helping dreams come true,” she said.
“Seeing the smiles and the happy tears makes everything worthwhile.”
