FLAME Festival reignites on the Copper Coast

Abbie Tiller

Fabulous FLAME Festival a permanent fixture on the Copper Coast Calendar

All roads will lead to the Copper Coast for the last weekend in Autumn, for the return of the amazing FLAME Festival – a celebration of food, light, art, music and entertainment. The Triangle of historic towns will be pulling out all stops to showcase the best of the region, and ensure a ‘flaming’ good time for everyone.

The three-day FLAME Festival was first held in 2022, attracting a crowd of more than 10,000 visitors to the 50 events on offer. Now running on alternate years to the famous Kernewek Lowender, the event is a permanent fixture to the Copper Coast calendar.

What better way to kick off the festivities than with a Flaming Fiesta! On the Friday night from 4pm, Kadina’s Victoria Square will be bustling with local food and drink stalls, live music and a gripping fire performance by Vulpes Vox to set the Flame Festival alight.

All three Copper Cost towns will be getting into the flaming spirit, showcasing local talent with art exhibitions, history and cultural displays, workshops, live music and markets.

Take a trip down Umbrella Alley (off Goyder Street), for a cute photo opportunity thanks to Hello World Travel Kadina.

You can navigate the magic of storytelling with a series of workshops throughout the festival, check out an array of captivating art exhibitions, or nurture your artistic skills and take part in a 3-day Visual Arts Workshop at the stunning Moonta Garden and Landscape Supplies.

The sounds of live music will be playing at venues across the triangle, and there’s something to suit everyone’s taste, from the Adelaide Plains Male Voice Choir at Kadina Uniting Church, to talented singer/songwriter, Ethan Davis, at the Wallaroo Sailing Club, electrifying music for all ages at The Station Community Mental Health Centre and other gigs at Hedonbar Brewing Company and Prince Edward Hotel Wallaroo.

Sparks will fly in Wallaroo on Saturday, with a free major FLAME Festival event for everyone to enjoy. Walter Whip and the Flames will give a mesmerising Western performance of whip cracking and fire stunts, and there’ll be plenty of local food and drink vendors as well as live music at the magnificent Wallaroo Town Hall.

The festival heats up in Moonta on Sunday, with a family-friendly day in the town’s main street. The gorgeous mining town will transform George and Ellen streets into a Pop-Up pedestrian mall, offering a delicious spread of alfresco dining on the sidewalk, live music, pop up bars and market stalls and an exciting Chalk and Bubble Alley the kids love to get lost in!

There’ll be so much to see and do in this beautiful part of the World, so check out the official program and start making plans for a Flaming Good time on the Copper Coast in May.
