‘Shakespeare On Love’ in the Clare Valley

Melissa Smith

‘My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep. The more I give to thee,
The more I have. For both are infinite’
Romeo and Juliet, II.ii.133-5

Shakespeare is undoubtedly the greatest poet on love of all time and now here’s your chance to take a glimpse into the Shakespearian world in the heart of the Clare Valley.

On Saturday, February 24, Butterfly Theatre will present ‘Shakespeare on Love’ at Sevenhill Cellars. Set outside on the sprawling lawn, this event promises an evening filled with the magic of Shakespeare’s finest scenes, sonnets, and songs, complemented by live music.

A night of romance, wit, and musical delights, directed by Tony Knight, features South Australian talented actors and musicians, giving the audience a fresh perspective on Shakespeare’s timeless themes of love and all of its challenges.

Live musical performances by Matthew Lykos and Jodie O’Regan, including original compositions and Shakespearean arrangements, will add a unique touch for this one night only event.

Wine, beer, and ciders will be available at the bar, while Mishes Kitchen offers Vietnamese delights. Barista coffee and sweet treats by Red Hot Shot Coffee will also be on offer.

Gates open at 5 pm, with food and bar services starting at the same time. The performance kicks off at 7pm and is expected to conclude around 9-9.15 pm.
