Rural accommodation nestled in the heart of Clare Valley

If you’ve ever wondered where the heart of the Clare Valley lies, we’ve found it! Picture quaint cosy cottages, lush rolling hills, wood fires, fine wines and epicurean delights at your doorstep.

Battunga Cottages is a rural retreat located along the breathtakingly beautiful Upper Skilly Road at Watervale – a tranquil town surrounded by vineyards, dotted with cellar doors, glamorous event spaces and home to the World-renowned Watervale Hotel.

Offering a range of accommodation options, the four 19th Century-style cottages are equipped with modern amenities, perfect for couples, or small groups from four up to 12 guests. The “Galah” cottage is also specially designed for easy accessibility.

With the most glorious natural backdrop right throughout the year, these cosy cottages are the ideal base for exploring the beauty and abundant offerings of the magical Clare Valley wine region.

Wind your way to Wine along the legendary Riesling Trail

At your doorstep – the famous Clare Valley Riesling Trail winds past the cottages, perfect for a morning walk or cycle, or an adventure in the fresh country air, taking you right through to the town of Clare to the North or a steady ride South to Auburn, with timely stop offs for wine and cheese at many of the cellar doors along the way.

Battunga Cottages capture the vibe of the Valley

The Clare Valley screams cosy, abundant and picturesque, and that’s exactly what Battunga Cottages offer guests. Hosts, Kerry and Mark offer a warm welcome, a tranquil experience, with plenty of local produce for guests.

Full breakfast provisions for each night of your stay, including fresh baked bread, fresh eggs from the Battunga and neighbouring hens, award-winning bacon from the local butcher, and a selection of cereals, juice and spreads.

While you’re there, previous visitors recommend following the trail of the resident Kangaroos, through the magnificent gums to see the sunrise over the vineyards. At sunset, sip your cellar door favourite while relaxing on your private veranda, listening to the chorus of magpies, galahs, and kookaburras singing their evening song. And before bed, take in one last Clare Valley view, by looking up at the magnificent starry sky above.
