From Santa and Twilight Markets to Spectacular Fireworks, Loxton is Gearing Up For One of its Biggest Celebrations
There’s something pretty special about Loxton at Christmas. And on Saturday, November 28, the festive little Riverland town will official switch-on one of the most spectacular country town Christmas light displays.
For more three decades, Loxton Light Up Day has been bringing a little extra Christmas magic to the banks of the Murray River, attracting thousands of visitors from the Riverland and beyond.
From morning until well after dark, the town will be buzzing with Christmas celebrations, family entertainment, shopping, markets and plenty of festive fun.
A Whole Day of Christmas Fun
The celebrations kick off with the town’s shops opening from 9am, giving visitors plenty of time to wander East Terrace, explore the local businesses and get a head start on Christmas shopping.
Santa will be making appearances from 10am to 1pm and again from 4pm to 8pm, with a free gift for every child who visits.
There’ll also be free crafts and activities, a Ferris wheel, live entertainment and the ever-popular Reindeer Road, where little visitors can collect some festive goodies along the way.
From 4.30pm, the twilight Christmas markets will add to the atmosphere, with stalls, food and drinks keeping the celebrations rolling into the evening.
A Spectacular Finish
Of course, no Loxton Light Up Day would be complete without its famous fireworks finale.
At 9pm, the sky above the Murray River will burst into colour, officially launching the month-long Loxton Christmas Lights Festival.
It’s a tradition that has become part of the Riverland’s Christmas calendar, and a wonderful excuse to spend a day exploring one of SA’s most festive country towns.
