Bundaleer Forest is Celebrating 150 Years and You’re Invited
It’s been almost 150 years since the first trees were planted in Bundaleer Forest – and what better way to celebrate than with a good old-fashioned community get-together under the iconic pines.
The Bundaleer Forest 150th Celebrations will be held on Sunday, November 9, with a free family day in the forest’s picturesque picnic grounds. Expect live music from Scott Rathman Jr, face painting, nature play and plenty of old-fashioned games that spark nostalgia (and maybe a little friendly competition).
There’ll be food trucks and coffee vans serving up tasty treats, and Maple & Pine – the forest’s stunning event space – will be open with displays of forestry artefacts, art, photography and handcrafted timber pieces celebrating Bundaleer’s deep roots and creative spirit.
A special moment in the day will be the unveiling of a 150th commemorative plaque by Her Excellency the Governor of South Australia, the Honourable Frances Adamson AC – a fitting tribute to one of the state’s oldest and most loved forests.
Visitors will learn more about Bundaleer’s history, from the early days of planting tree seeds into bamboo cuttings, to its transformation into the vibrant community space it is today.
Event organiser Greg Boston says it’s a celebration for anyone who’s ever had a connection to Bundaleer — “from workers and farmers, to school groups and sporting clubs – we’d love to see you there. It’s a chance to reconnect, reminisce and create new memories for the next 150 years.”
Free tickets are available now via Humanitix. And if you’ve got old photos or keepsakes tucked away, you can still contribute to the Bundaleer memorabilia collection.
