Grain Producers SA wants your top hits for Harvest 100
You’ve all heard of Triple J’s Hottest 100, but Grain Producers SA (GPSA) has something even better lined up this year—just in time for a harvest season that’s anything but ordinary.
Harvest 100 is the ultimate playlist for our farmers who will need a distraction from what has been one of the most brutal years in South Australia’s agricultural history.
2024 has brought record-breaking drought conditions, late-season frosts, and what many are calling one of the worst growing seasons in memory. With crops failing, hay production lagging, and frost wiping out crops, some farmers won’t even get the chance to bring out their headers this year. It’s a tough pill to swallow in places that normally produce some of the most reliable crops.
And while this year’s harvest may be shorter and sharper than usual, there are still long hours to be spent, often in isolation, pushing through what’s left of this challenging season.
So GPSA is inviting you to submit their top five songs to keep our farmers entertained and boost morale as they tackle the long hours ahead. And fingers are crossed that there won’t be any “November Rain” this year for our “Boys (and girls) From the Bush”, as headers and playlists crank up.
