Eight Stops, Live Music, local food and no need to worry about who’s driving – The Skilly Valley Way has your October Long Weekend Covered

If your idea of a great long weekend includes good wine, great food, live music and one of South Australia’s most scenic locations, there’s a pretty good chance The Skilly Valley Way should be on your list.

Returning on Saturday, October 3, this well-planned event invites visitors to leave the car behind and spend the day exploring one of the Clare Valley’s often overlooked regions, the Skillogalee Valley.

With a hop-on, hop-off bus looping between eight stops every 30 minutes, there’s no need to stick to a schedule. Jump off for a tasting, settle in for lunch, catch some live music or simply enjoy the views before hopping back on to the next stop.

It’s a relaxed way to experience the valley at your own pace.

Discover a Different Side of the Clare Valley

While the Clare Valley is well known for its wineries, organisers say The Skilly Valley Way is about much more than a cellar door visit.

“Guests receive a wrist band and a reusable keep-cup. So essentially, they grab their ticket, get on the bus and spend the day discovering what each venue has to offer.”

And with busses departing from Clare, the best part is, no one gets the task of being the designated driver!

Choose Your Own Adventure

The route includes Kilikanoon, Penna Lane, Eldredge Vineyards, Mitchell Wines, Jeanneret, Three Little Birds, Sawmill Gin and Skillogalee Estate, with each venue putting its own spin on the day.

Visitors can enjoy everything from award-winning rieslings and guided tastings through to gourmet burgers, gin cocktails, live blues music, acoustic performances and long lunches overlooking the vines.

One of the highlights is the freedom to create your own itinerary.

Whether you chose to settle in and relaxing at one venue or simply stop in for a quick tasting before moving on, the buses keep circulating throughout the day, making it easy to experience as much—or as little—as you like.

With spring in full swing and the October Long Weekend one of the busiest times to explore regional South Australia, organisers hope the event encourages visitors to wander beyond the familiar and discover some of the Skilly Valley’s hidden gems.
