One of Australia’s’ oldest wineries, Sevenhill Cellars, toasts the past and present at Clare Valley’s 40th Gourmet Celebration

As the Clare Valley celebrates 40 years of Gourmet festivities, the region’s longest-standing winery, Sevenhill Cellars, is making it a milestone to remember, rolling out a huge line-up of deliciously appetising events across the ten-day Autumn festival.

Asian Fusion Feast & Live Music 🥘- May 18-19

Lovers of tradition, The Sevenhill Cellars crew has invited the fabulous foodies from Sookii La la back to kick off the fun, with their sensational Southeast Asian Street Food. The two-day Asian Fusion Feast will be bursting with Baos, Burgers, Dumplings and Curries, with a changing breakfast and lunch menu.

The boys from Squirrel Grip will have you up and dancing, with popular covers from Crowded House, the Beatles, Vance Joy and more. And all of this with a perfectly suited Sevenhill wine in hand or a beer, gin, cider or Barista-made coffee.

The History of Grenache 🍇 – May 17 & 24

For a more traditional Sevenhill Cellar experience, you can delve into the extraordinary heritage of the region with a rare and exclusive opportunity to Explore the History of Grenache, in no better place than one of the oldest wineries in Australia.

Embark on a guided tour across the picturesque 100-year-old vineyard, exploring all aspects of the Grenache grape, from heritage clones to soil variants and the effects of elevation on the vines and final product.

Learn from the experts, with Chief Winemaker, Will Shields, or Viticulturist, Craig Richards, guiding the unique expeditions, which will take in the historic underground cellar and finish with wine tasting and grazing on the region’s tasty produce.

Museum v Current Vintage Tastings 🍷  – May 20-26

The grounds of Sevenhill Cellars are a breathtaking step back in time, and during the Gourmet celebration, guests can indulge in a very special line-up of tastings, from then and now.

At the unique Museum vs Current Vintage Tastings, experience first-hand the changes as a Riesling matures over time and try the famous St Ignatius, a popular red wine, from current samples to past vintages. Explore the journeys behind these exceptional wines, guided by knowledgable hosts in Sevenhill’s Cellar Door.

Campfire Conversations 🔥 – May 23

But wait, there’s more! On Thursday afternoon, May 23, join Sevenhill’s Head Winemaker, Will Shields for “Campfire Conversations“. Bring your deck chairs for a relaxed yet unique opportunity to be guided through the Single Vineyard, Sevenhill range of wines, in the exciting new event space, ‘The Forest’.
