Five-day Caravan, Camping & Outdoor Show highlights splendour of the Mighty Murray

Set to lure over 25,000 potential visitors, this year’s Lets Go Caravan, Camping and Outdoor Show is inspiring travellers to take a trip through the scenic landscapes of rural South Australia.

In a significant milestone, the five-day extravaganza has received support from the State Government through the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC), aligning efforts to target the self-drive market and contribute to the state’s ongoing flood recovery initiatives.

Zoe Bettison, Minister for Tourism expressed the strategic importance of this collaboration, stating, “Thousands of potential visitors will see South Australia at every turn, at the 2024 Let’s Go Caravan, Camping & Outdoor Show this week.” Aiding flood-affected businesses, particularly caravan parks, the Let’s Go Caravan, Camping and Outdoor Show highlights the splendor of the state’s mighty Murray to an engaged audience.

The Let’s Go Road Trips Pavilion takes the spotlight, featuring a dedicated Murray River exhibition where attendees can find out firsthand some tips and advice from operators, revealing the secrets that make the Riverland and Murray River, Lakes & Coorong regions ideal for caravan and camping adventures.

Brenton Carle, Owner/Tour Guide of Canoe the Coorong, emphasises the significance of events like these for regional tourism operators. Carle states, “The Let’s Go Caravan, Camping and Outdoor show is a great opportunity for tourism operators such as Canoe the Coorong to showcase our experiences in the Coorong National Park.”

Highlighting the resilience of regional businesses despite challenges like COVID and last Summer’s flooding, Carle adds, “The self-drive market is integral to the success of operators such as ourselves who are located in the regions. Without the self-drive market Canoe the Coorong wouldn’t be the business it is today.”

The program strategically spotlights South Australia’s Murray River regions, with live talking sessions, stalls, and a ‘Magic of the Mighty Murray’ discussion series. The Let’s Go Caravan, Camping and Outdoor Show’s printed program, featuring a full-page promotion of SATC’s River Revival Voucher initiative, encourages eventgoers to register in the upcoming ballot. Another page invites visitors to discover the Murray River regions during the cooler months, with or without a voucher.

To sweeten the experience, SATC’s newly launched bakery bags will be a focal point, serving up regional bakery delights over the five days and enticing travellers to explore more of South Australia. The bakery bags, part of SATC’s road trip campaign, guide potential road trippers to holiday inspiration, maps, and itineraries of the state’s six iconic road trips.

Exhibitors, including Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, Australian Native Food Co., Canoe the Coorong, Turkey Flat Vineyards, Kilsby Sinkhole and Accommodation, plus more, collectively contribute to showcasing South Australia as a must-do self-drive holiday destination.
