Cast Off on the Eyre Peninsula at the 30th Australian Salmon Fishing Championship
The Western Eyre Peninsula’s stunning coastline will be transformed into a three-month fishing frenzy as the 30th anniversary of the Australian Salmon Fishing Championship kicks off on June 1.
There are awesome prizes up for grabs too. Haul in the heaviest salmon and walk away with a cool $2000! There’s also a $750 prize for the runner-up and a weekly mystery weight competition – just weigh your daily catch (up to 3) and see if it matches the secret weight for the week and be rewarded with $250.
No boat? No problem. This is all about classic beach fishing. From Mt Camel down to Sharinga Beach you and your trusty rod can face off against the feisty Australian Salmon along some of the wildest coastlines in the state.
You can also capture the moment, showing off your angling expertise as well as your photography skills with the monthly photo competition. Every month, the picture with the most ‘likes’ snags a $50 prize. Salmon selfie anyone?
Open to all skill levels, from seasoned anglers to first-time fishers, there’s no need to worry if you’re a complete novice. Plus you can return to try and snag the winning salmon as many times as you please!
More than just a competition, this Eyre Peninsula adventure is a chance to forge new fishing friendships, swap tales of the “one that got away” and discover the beauty of this magnificent region. All the while, you’ll be supporting the local businesses that keep this event and region thriving.
