Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival Returns To Celebrate Art, Community And 150 Years
The Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival is back on Saturday, August 1, turning Memorial Park into a celebration of local art, music, food and community that proves winter doesn’t have to be all grey skies and early nights.
Now in its fifth year, the festival has become one of the region’s favourite winter events, bringing locals and visitors together for a day packed with entertainment, creativity and plenty to explore.
This year, the festival isn’t just about keeping warm. It’s also a chance to celebrate 150 years of the people, stories and community spirit that have helped shape Port Pirie.
Returning favourites include the colourful Nylon Zoo, the always-popular pyrotechnic performance by Flux Entertainment, arts workshops, a Youth Zone with a silent disco and giant games, plus plenty of local food to keep everyone warm between activities.
The live music lineup will be headlined by Adelaide singer-songwriter My Cherie, while the Kaurna Yarta – The Seasons performance by Taikurtinna Dance Group and Bowerbird Collective will celebrate culture, connection and Country.
The festival also continues its commitment to being welcoming for everyone, with accessible facilities, quiet spaces and an Easy Read guide helping make the event enjoyable for visitors of all ages and abilities.
Better still, it’s a Zero Waste event, proving a big community celebration can also tread a little lighter on the environment.
