Port Lincoln Photography Studio showcases EP’s beauty

The elegant Eyre Peninsula is a giant coastal adventure playground of fishing, diving, surfing, four wheel driving and some of the most breathtaking scenery on the planet.

It’s a Photographer’s dream, especially for Port Lincoln’s Matthew Dodd, who has opened his own studio in the town’s old Tunarama building, offering his stunning landscape prints and his very own range of outdoor clothing.

A Writer, Photographer and self-confessed Travel Addict, Dodd grew up fishing, camping, riding bikes and playing sport on the Peninsula playground, but it wasn’t until he’d travelled the world and returned to the region to raise a family of his own, that he recognised its true beauty.

“It’s not until you get older that you really appreciate the region you grew up in,” he said.

And according to Dodd, “the longer you’re here, and the more you know about where to be at what time of year, the more of a Photographer’s dream it is”.

Stepping out of the carpentry trade and into his passion for photography full time, Dodd moved his studio from his garage in January, giving everyone a chance to admire his craft.

Not only is the new studio a brilliant showcase of the region through imagery, it’s also a bright space for creatives to converge on the couches for a touch of inspiration, and an outlet for Dodd’s very own range of sustainable clothing.

The outdoor clothing brand is branded with a message to Dodd’s former school teachers! The “Explore More, Work Less and Going Nowhere Fast” ranges include comfort t-shirts and singlets, long-sleeve tops, fleece jumpers, spray jackets and caps. The clothing line currently uses Australian sourced garments, embroided and screen-printed locally, with Dodd aiming to move into recycled materials, to provide an alternative to the fast fashion which leaves an enormous carbon footprint on the planet.

Opening his own studio has been a great leap for Dodd, allowing him to spend more quality time with his family and take up some commercial and event photography. His incredible prints are available to view in the studio from Thursdays to Saturdays, or by appointment. He caters for a range of clientele, with local landscapes and wildlife photography available in smaller, affordable sizes for tourists, to a range of more high end canvas options. Each piece is printed on fine-art paper, with a range of framing options to suit every budget.
