With over 200 bikes and unique tours, let Riesling Trail Bike Hire be your guide
If you’re looking to hit some scenic paths on two wheels, Riesling Trail Bike Hire is your go-to! A cyclist’s dream come true, this place is chock-a-block with over 200 well-maintained bikes ready for any adventure.
Whether you want to cruise through spectacular vineyards on a popular e-bike that makes hills a breeze or tackle rugged trails on a sturdy mountain bike, they’ve got you covered. The range includes hybrids for those who want the best of both worlds, tandems for a fun ride with a partner, tagalongs for little adventurers, and kiddie carriers to ensure everyone can join in on the fun.
Owner Kent Wewzow started this journey fifteen years ago with just 25 bikes, and his passion for cycling has helped him grow Riesling Trail Bike Hire into the longest-running single-operator bike hire company in the Clare Valley, making it the perfect spot to gear up for your next adventure!
“We’ve been at this for a while now,” Kent said, “and our goal is to match each rider with the perfect bike – whether they’re a beginner or a seasoned pro.”
With five locations to hire your wheels, exploring the Clare Valley and beyond is now easier than ever. You can start your adventure at Riesling Trail Bike Hire’s main location at 10 Warenda Road in Clare, or if you’re staying at the Clare Country Club you can book directly at the front desk. South of Clare, bikes are also available to hire at Auburn Caravan Park and the Watervale General Store.
And now, Riesling Trail Bike Hire has expanded to Burra, with Burra Heritage Bikes offering a fresh way to explore the historic copper mining town. Recently launched, this collaboration allows you to grab an e-bike from the Burra Caravan and Camping Grounds and set off on a scenic ride along Burra’s heritage trail. Packed with rich history, the trail highlights landmarks like the Burra Monster Mine and Redruth Gaol. Each e-bike is equipped with a 100km battery range and double carry pouches – perfect for packing a picnic and stopping to enjoy Burra’s scenic lookouts. As the town moves toward UNESCO World Heritage status, Burra Heritage Bikes is a fantastic way for families and visitors to discover this South Aussie gem.
Teaming up with local wineries is another way Riesling Trail Bike Hire has made your ride even more enjoyable. Check out the “Ride, Riesling, Relax” experience, where you begin your leisurely ride at Riesling Trail Bike Hire, roll along to Tim Adams Wines for a delicious tasting of five single vineyard wines paired with artisan cheeses, then pedal on to Sevenhill Cellars for some fortified wine and liqueur chocolate tastings. Finally, kick back at Mr. Mick’s Cellar Door and Kitchen with a tasty tapas lunch and three specially chosen wines. This awesome Clare Valley experience is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Plus, keep an eye out in 2025 for other biking collaborations in the pipeline, with the brand new Clare Valley Distillery and Skillogalee Estate offering gin tastings and lunch packages tailored for happy cyclists. Kent’s easygoing nature and deep love for the Clare Valley shine through as he and his team—including local wine whiz Leon, bike guru Alan, and resident ‘chain master’ Samuel—help you discover the joy of cycling while exploring this beautiful region.
So whether you’re looking to take a leisurely ride, sip the best wines around, or dive into Burra’s rich history, Riesling Trail Bike Hire has got your back.
