Matriarch and Rogue opens new Mintaro Cellar Door

Abbie Tiller

Matriarch and Rogue Winery, a family-owned business celebrating a decade in the Clare Valley, will open its new Cellar Door this weekend, in the historic town of Mintaro.

A significant milestone for the winery, the move has been a family effort, with all hands on deck to make the transition a reality. Winemaker and owner, Marnie Roberts, is renowned for her dedication to crafting wines from alternate varieties such as Percorino and Aglianico, offering guests a rare opportunity to experience the hard-to-find wines firsthand.

“At our new cellar door in Mintaro, we will take our visitors through a journey of these unique wines, providing insight into our winemaking process and the stories behind each variety,” she said.

In addition to the alternate varieties, Matriarch and Rogue also produces classic wines, including shiraz, Malbec and the renowned Riesling that the Clare Valley is famous for.
The new Cellar Door and Winery is located in the iconic Mintaro Cellars building, at the southern end of beautiful Mintaro – a historic setting where visitors can enjoy Matriarch and Rogues exceptional wine.

“We are absolutely thrilled to call Mintaro home,” she said. “This move has been a labour of love for our family with both the winery and cellar door all in one location, and we are looking forward to opening our doors to the public and sharing our passion for winemaking with the community.
