Laura Fair Packs a Crowd of 15,000 Over Two Big Days
The Laura Folk Fair returns this weekend, with thousands set to roll into the Mid North town for what’s become one of South Australia’s biggest community events.
Maybe it’s the fact it’s been going since 1980. Or maybe it’s that what started as a handful of stalls has grown into a weekend that now draws more than 15,000 people to Laura.
Across Saturday and Sunday this celebration of community spirit fills the streets with more than 100 stallholders delivering artisan delicious food, live music, rides and entertainment for the whole family.
The Laura Folk Fair isn’t just about having a good time — it’s one of the community’s biggest fundraising events, with local groups, clubs and volunteers working together to keep local projects ticking along.

Shiny Cars, Fireworks and Golden North Ice-Cream
There’s plenty happening across the weekend — from the car and bike show and shine, to sideshow rides, local makers, and the always hotly contested ice cream competition. Fireworks are also back this year, lighting up the sky from 7pm before the night rolls on with live music.
And speaking of ice cream… it’s a moment of change for Laura, with Golden North set to close its local factory in June. But if you ask anyone, the company’s move south won’t change what it means to the region — the famous SA brand will always be the heart (and taste) of the north.
While you’re in town, it’s also worth stopping in at Little Blessings Brewery – the popular church alehouse celebrating its second birthday.
