Retired Harvesters Smash Head-to-Head When the Header Derby Returns For Keith’s 100th Show
They’re big. They’re battered. And they’re ready to put on a show once again.
The legendary Header Derby will return as part of the Keith Show’s 100th anniversary celebrations on Saturday, 3 April 2027, bringing back one of the most unique events on the country show calendar.
It’ll be the battle of the battered combines as retired grain headers are stripped back and sent head-to-head in a demolition-style showdown that has thrilled crowds for generations.
Rather than ending their working lives in a paddock or scrapyard, these old bangers are given one final chance to shine as drivers battle for survival in front of a cheering crowd. It’s noisy, unpredictable and unlike anything else on the country show circuit.
The one-off return is creating plenty of excitement, with organisers revealing they’ve been flooded with enquiries from people keen to enter a header.
With competitor numbers extremely limited, anyone hoping to take part will need to submit an application to be considered. Entry details haven’t been released yet, but organisers are encouraging people to keep an eye on the Keith Show’s social media pages for updates.
The Header Derby is expected to be one of the biggest drawcards of the Keith Show’s centenary celebrations, with plenty of past spectators already reminiscing about the crunching metal, roaring engines and unforgettable action that made it such a crowd favourite.
