Save a life in 30 minutes by learning First Aid
Young drivers are being encouraged to learn lifesaving first aid skills, via a free St John Ambulance Australia online awareness course.
In just 30-45 minutes, learner drivers who undertake the interactive learning course can gain basic first aid knowledge and more confidence to assist with road crash trauma until emergency services arrive.
Every year around 1,100 people are killed on Australian roads, and 44,000 are seriously injured.
By knowing simple first aid steps, drivers can assist those who may be injured, and potentially even save someone’s life.
Evidence shows that actions within the first three minutes of an accident can drastically reduce injury and preserve life.
While the free course isn’t a formal first aid certification, participants will be issued with a certificate, and learn basic first aid, life support and how to treat wounds and bleeding.
