Walter’s garden blooms on
The Heritage Garden is set to bloom once again, and this year’s Open Day on Sunday, November 3, will be extra special as we remember and celebrate the life of Walter Duncan—a legend in the world of roses.
Walter and Kay Duncan spent 25 years transforming a paddock into the stunning garden you’ll get to wander through, filled with mature trees, roses, vegetables, and so much more. It’s the perfect spot to soak up spring, with its endless rows of fragrant blooms and the rich variety of plants that make The Heritage Garden a must-see. Walter may have passed away earlier this year, but his legacy will be in full bloom – literally.
From the soft pinks of the Souvenir de la Malmaison roses that drape over 22 arches to the striking Lamarque climbing roses that wrap around the verandah, the garden is packed with beauty. You can also stroll through a stunning labyrinth of sunflowers, visit the rustic bridge surrounded by old roses, and take in the incredible array of plants—each area lovingly created by Walter and Kay.
On the day, folk group Tamarisque will be playing tunes setting the perfect backdrop for a garden stroll. With food, wine, and market stalls dotted around, it’s the perfect way to spend a spring day with friends.
Tickets are just $10 with all proceeds going to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the SA Open Garden Scheme—two causes close to Walter’s heart.
