Beddy Rays, The Buoys & West Thebarton Fire Up Caltowie

Caltowie Chilled Out 'N Fired Up

Caltowie Chilled Out ‘N Fired Up Music Festival is back for 2024

Get ready to rock! In the heart of the tiny town of Caltowie, big-name bands from across Australia will converge for an electrifying festival experience on Saturday March 23.

This year’s lineup is jam-packed with both established favourites and exciting newcomers in the rock and indie scene. Fun-loving larrikins Beddy Rays will be belting out their weekend anthem and crowd favourite ‘Sobercoaster’, supported by headline acts including Sydney-based all-female rock band, The Buoys, plus, Adelaide’s own energetic ARIA nominated West Thebarton. Joining the mix are eight local South Australians including Caltowie’s very own ‘Loose Change’ putting their spin on the best of rock.

Ben VanBoekel, the festival organiser, reminds us, “It’s not just about the music; it’s about creating a fun and friendly experience where people can come together, connect, and celebrate the power of music”. And it’s also about supporting mental health initiatives in the local community. Since the first festival in 2019, the Caltowie crew has been dedicated to raising awareness and reducing stigma around mental health. It’s a chance for everyone to come together, have a good time, and show support for those who may be struggling. Last year’s event was a huge success, with over 1,300 people from across the state and interstate converging to the tiny mid-north town.

But where the hell is Caltowie? With a population of 50 on a busy day, Caltowie sits between Jamestown and Gladstone, plonked in the middle of fertile farming land, straddling the Mid-North and Southern Flinders – the perfect spot for a music festival!

On arrival you’ll find a stack of food and drink options to keep fuelled up and hydrated. From smoky barbecue to vegan delights to gourmet yiros, plus licensed bars including local SA brewers, there’s something to satisfy every taste bud. And if you’re planning to stay for the whole weekend, on-site camping is available. It’s first-come, first-served, so be sure to claim your spot early.

So mark your calendars, and grab your camping chairs and picnic rugs for an unforgettable day at the Caltowie Chilled Out ‘N Fired Up Music Festival – a celebration of music, community, and mental health awareness.
