Alert SA now covers fires, floods, heatwaves, and more
The Alert SA app just got a big upgrade, making it easier for South Australians to stay safe during emergencies.
Here’s what’s new…
- More than just bushfires: The app now covers severe weather, heatwaves, floods, urban fires, and hazardous materials.
- Cross-border alerts: For the first time, you’ll get notified about fire warnings up to 100km into neighbouring states.
- Watch Zones: Set up to 10 areas to get push notifications for incidents near places you care about.
- Accessibility upgrades: A fresh design, voiceover options, and support for large text make the app easier for everyone to use.
“Turning this app into a multi-hazard platform will give South Australians critical information during different emergencies to help them stay safe”, Dan Cregan, Minister for Emergency Services said.
Since 2019, the app has been downloaded more than 380,000 times and sent over 140 million notifications for more than 17,000 bushfire incidents – alerting communities of emergencies unfolding across SA and informing their response.
CFS Deputy Chief Officer Georgie Cornish added, “It is essential people don’t rely on just one source of information during an emergency and the Alert SA app offers an important additional way for you to receive timely updates about bushfires and other hazards, helping you to stay safe during an emergency.”
The free app is available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Download it today and set up your Watch Zones to stay in the know.
