Free Youth Week events in Snowtown and Balaklava

SA Youth Week (SAYW) is South Australia’s biggest celebration of young people aged from 12 to 25. Held each year, Youth Week recognises the ideas, talents, and contributions of young people in South Australia and includes a wide range of events and activities created by and for young people.

Wakefield Regional Council will again celebrate their region’s youth with free events and activities in Snowtown and Balaklava.

Taryn Hall, Community Wellbeing Officer, is encouraging local youth from across the region to join in and enjoy the free events.

“As our council is spread across a large area, we will be hosting two free events to cater for young people, one in the north and one in the south of our council region,” Taryn said.

“Both events will feature a large inflatable obstacle course, giant lawn games, music and refreshments, providing a great vibe for young people to come together in these two locations.”

The Youth Week celebration in Snowtown will be held on March 15, from 3.30pm at the Snowtown Oval followed by Balaklava’s celebration on Friday, March 22, from 3pm on the Oval at Ralli Park.

Both events are made possible with $2000 in funding from the South Australian Government’s Youth Week grants. This support has been crucial in creating these events for local youth in Wakefield, with the Council having benefited from it for the past five celebrations.
