Barossa Meal Prep Favourite, Vintage Chef Co, Expands with Café and Kitchen Hub
If you thought Vintage Chef Co couldn’t get any bigger, think again. The Barossa-based meal prep powerhouse has just bought the iconic Tanunda Brewery – and they’ve got some seriously tasty plans for it.
Right now, it’s an empty brewery sitting on a gorgeous parcel of land. But soon? It’s set to become Vintage Chef Co Tanunda – part production kitchen, part café, and a whole lot of Barossa vibes.
Teagan Carpenter is the owner of the booming business, and nothing gets in her way when it comes to creating “good for the good people of the Barossa, Gawler and surrounding regions”.

“We have been actively looking for commercial land for a while to build a factory. We were about to sign the dotted line for a block in the back streets of Tanunda. THEN, overnight our plans changed…the brewery had an auction, we won and the rest is history!”
“It’s the perfect spot. It’s right at the entrance to Tanunda, across from the caravan park, it backs onto a reserve and walking trail – we just knew it had to be ours.”
More Than Just Meal Prep
Vintage Chef Co is already a bit of a Barossa legend. What started as a small meal prep business in Lyndoch has grown into a full-blown success story, employing 50 locals, running a café out of Starplex in Gawler, catering events, and feeding busy families.
They’ve built a cult following because their meals are fresh, not frozen, packed in sustainable packaging, and about as close to home-cooked as you can get – without the shopping, chopping, or mental load.
Their menu changes weekly, with over 80 meals available in both a classic range and healthy options that keeps the gym crowd happy. Basically, they take away the guilt, guesswork, and midweek stress so you can just… eat.
Big Plans Brewing
The Tanunda site will house a bigger production kitchen to keep up with demand, plus a new café where people can grab a coffee, have a bite to eat and pick up their weekly meals. And that’s just the start. Teagan’s long-term vision also includes an event and function space, and she has the perfect spot to make it a reality.
Over at the Starplex cafe, it’s business as usual, and the team at Vintage Chef Co are giving themselves no firm timeframe on the expected opening of the new cafe. Teagan said there’s plenty of renos’ to be done, but the main priority continues to be putting food on the table.
