Explore 500,000 year old caves at Naracoorte World Heritage Festival
THIS WEEKEND – Step into a hidden world of stalactites and stalagmites, of ancient fossils and incredible history, at the World Heritage Festival, celebrating 30 years since the incredible Naracoorte Caves were given a UNESCO World Heritage Listing.
The Festival offers lots to see and do – you can explore the caves with researchers and students from the University of Adelaide, enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience as Professor Flint, the singing Palaeontologist, performs live in Blanche Cave and you can even take part in The Cave Run and take home a custom-made medal as you cross the finish line.
There’ll be loads of food options including burgers and roast meat rolls from Cart of Cravings. Master Pho will be in town with a delicious Vietnamese menu, Beggs Bean and Bar will be supplying the coffee and there’ll be wine too, from Wild Game Wine and Wrattonbully Wine Region.
The festival is all about celebrating the unique history and incredible significance of the Naracoorte Caves. It’s one of the few places where you can step back in time and explore Australia’s prehistoric past. The caves preserve the world’s most complete fossil record, spanning several ice ages and collecting animals for at least 500,000 years.
The free family-friendly festival will include market stalls and live music by local musician, Amy Verco, and students from Strinybach Studio.
