Discover the award-winning wine tourism experiences putting SA on the map

This year’s Best of Wine Tourism Awards proves once again, why South Australia is the ultimate destination, pouring out some of the best wine and one-of-a-kind experiences in the world.

Presented at the SA Wine Industry Dinner on September 19, these awards are part of South Australia’s Great Wine Capitals Global Network, recognising our state as a world-class wine producer, alongside regions like Bordeaux and Napa Valley.

Among the top winners is Beresford Estate in McLaren Vale, which took home the award for Accommodation. It’s not just a place to rest your head, Beresford is a full immersion in the vineyard life. Guests are treated to a luxurious stay surrounded by the beauty of the vines, offering a complete experience that’s hard to beat.

McLaren Vale was a big winner this year, with both Dandelion Vineyards and McLaren Vale Distillery taking top prizes. Dandelion Vineyards won the Architecture and Landscape award for its stunning Wonder Room, designed to frame McLaren Vale’s gorgeous views. Meanwhile, McLaren Vale Distillery bagged the Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences award for bringing a fresh twist to Australia’s history of fortified wines, combining tradition with a point of difference that’s drawing new fans.

Over in Hahndorf, Sidewood Estate stole the spotlight with two awards. First, they took home the Culinary Experiences award for setting the bar high with their outstanding food offerings, flawless attention to detail, and warm service. Then, they topped it off by also winning the Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices, thanks to their commitment to eco-friendly practices and collaboration with the local community.

Similarly, the Watervale Hotel in the Clare Valley is flying the flag for local producers with engaging displays and interactive experiences that help visitors truly appreciate the wine and culture of the region.

Zoe Bettison, Minister for Tourism put it perfectly saying “South Australia is home to the best wine tourism experiences in the world – a credit to our hard-working producers and tourism operators who deliver an exceptional product.”

Winners of the South Australian awards will now compete for a Global Best Of Wine Tourism Award in their nominated category, which will be presented at the Great Wine Capitals Gala Dinner and Global Best Of Wine Tourism Awards Ceremony in Verona, Italy, on Thursday 24 October.
