Dive into the deliciousness of Oysterfest

It’s time to lock in your October long weekend plans, and the Eyre Peninsula’s famous Oyster Festival is undoubtedly South Australia’s crown jewel event.

Dive into the deliciousness of Oysterfest 2024, as Ceduna serves up three decades of tradition, with a side of mouthwatering food and live entertainment. It really will be a shellebration for the senses!

Whether you’re an ostreaphile (that’s someone with a deep appreciation for the nuances and joys of oyster consumption) or just a lover of good times, the Nation’s largest oyster festival has an action packed line-up of entertainment for everyone. And the best bit….it’s absolutely free to attend.

Live Music, Kid’s Zone and a chance to win cash

There’s a long weekend line-up of live entertainment, featuring six powerhouse musicians from the super popular cover band, Motel Music. Talented local performers will also take to the stage, and while the adults sip, shuck and sing along, there will be a brand new entertainment headquarters for the kids.

“We’re excited to introduce a new FREE Kid’s Zone this year, bringing the festival back to its community roots,” Jo Skinner, Events Officer at District Council of Ceduna said.

The Oysterfest has been a Labour Day long-weekend tradition on the beautiful shores of Murat Bay since 1991, and its popularity never wanes. With the official program due to be released early August, Jo said preparations were coming along beautifully, with enthusiasm ensuring another wonderful family event.

“The Ceduna Oysterfest is a community event where our oyster growers take centre stage, along with the vibrant community of Ceduna and the Far West Coast. It’s all about experiencing and enjoying everything our region has to offer while you’re visiting.”

Adding to the entertainment is the well-fought oyster shucking championship, a chance to win some cash using your hasty fish filleting skills, sucking back a dozen oysters blindfolded or raising the traditional stein of endurance!

Lock in an action-packed weekend of fabulous food and fun

No matter what your taste, the Oyster capital will also be a foodies paradise, with more than a dozen different mobile caterers rolling in to serve up a flavourful weekend.

A spectacular aerial display by the legendary Chris Sperou and his team of Sky Blazers will grace the skies, and the night sky will light up with a fireworks display reflecting in the waters of Ceduna’s picturesque Murat Bay.

So lock in the Oysterfest experience for the October long weekend, keep and eye out for the official program, and stay tuned to Greater SA for more details on one of SA’s all-time favourite festivals.
