From the Eyre Peninsula to the Adelaide Hills, meet the women powering the CFS

“Sheroes” is definitely the word for Kylie Kleinig and Tahlia Wolverson. These two dynamo women from country South Australia were honoured last week at the AWE Network Recognition Awards, celebrating women in emergency services.

Kylie Kleinig, from the Eyre Peninsula, was recognised for her leadership. As both a CFS Community Engagement Officer and a volunteer with the Lincoln Brigade, she’s been helping her community get prepared for emergencies. Her love for educating and working with others has made a real difference to both the CFS and her local area.

Up in the Adelaide Hills, Tahlia Wolverson earned a high commendation for her work in knowledge development. Volunteering since 2011 and now working as a Regional Administration Officer, she’s the one making sure training and emergency response programs run smoothly. Known for being adaptable and confident, she’s always learning and helping others along the way.

Both Kylie and Tahlia are perfect examples of the incredible work women are doing in emergency services. Their voluntary roles go far beyond duty as they help build stronger, more resilient communities in regional South Australia.

The Australasian Women in Emergencies (AWE) Network, established in 2018, aims to support and recognise the contributions of women like Kylie and Tahlia. With over 2,000 members, AWE is dedicated to promoting collaboration, skill development, and gender equity in emergency management.
