RFDS Filming Takes Off Across Port Augusta, Quorn, and Adelaide

Popular Aussie drama, RFDS, is back for season three, and that’s not even the best bit! Flight Nurse, Pete Emerson (played by former Home and Away heart throb, Stephen Peacocke) and the RFDS crew have touched down in SA.

With pre-production already underway, our Broken Hill cousins might be getting their runway polished, but Port Augusta is set to become the series’ new home. Filming is already taking flight across Port Augusta, Quorn, and Adelaide, with South Aussie Producer, Lisa Scott in the cockpit.

The entire star-studded cast is making a welcome return, including Nurse Pete – and it wouldn’t be out of the question for the Greater SA team to happily feign an outback emergency if we knew he’d be flying in to save us.

“The entire cast and crew are privileged to work with the actual RFDS in showcasing their true heroics in some of the most beautiful and rugged terrain in the world, including South Australia’s stunning Flinders Ranges.” – Executive Producer Sara Richardson

The third season promises more drama, more heart, and more of South Australia’s stunning landscapes as Port Augusta’s RFDS Base and surrounds double as Broken Hill during the production hiatus for airport upgrades.

With the extraordinary cast, including Emma Hamilton, Justine Clarke, and Rob Collins (nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Drama), returning for another round of outback heroics, the announcement of RFDS Season 3 has fans celebrating, and it sounds like they won’t be disappointed.

South Australian Film Corporation CEO, Kate Croser, is thrilled to have this iconic show touch down in SA saying that “Securing RFDS is a real coup for South Australia—not only will it create hundreds of local jobs, but it will also showcase our state’s remarkable landscapes to a huge national audience.”

Co-creator Ian Meadows adds “This series strives to showcase the beauty of regional Australia and the incredible work that the RFDS does to reach and support our most remote communities.”

As the cameras roll and the propellers sin, we look forward to another season of high-flying drama, stunning scenery, and maybe, just maybe, a little rescue from Nurse Pete.

RFDS Season 3 will be coming to Channel 7 and 7plus in 2025.
