Double the celebrations, double the cheer at Port Broughton this holiday season
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the “Top of the Yorke”. Port Broughton’s magical foreshore Christmas display is attracting plenty of photo opportunities, and the seaside town is pulling out all stops this festive season with a double celebration to spread some Christmas joy and see 2025 in with a double dose of New Year cheer.
Santa Clause is coming to town on Saturday December 14, for a Christmas Festival packed with fun for the whole family.
From 4pm the main street will deck the halls with a cracker Christmas Street Party, brimming with market stalls offering handcrafted gifts and delicious homemade treats from talented makers and creators across the Yorke Peninsula.
The kids can celebrate the end of the school year with loads of entertainment, before the much-loved colourful Christmas Pageant rolls through town at 6pm. Registrations for floats are open until December 6 – so if you haven’t already, grab your best tinsel finery and get your name down to help spread some yuletide joy! Local groups and businesses will be taking care of the Christmas feast, with plenty of food options available. And from 7pm, the excitement mounts as the kids do the nervous wait to catch up with the man of the moment in Santa’s Cave at the Town Hall.
There’ll be plenty of time for snapping a photo on Santa’s lap and dropping off some hints for the elves, with the magical Cave re-opening on December 16, right through until Christmas Eve.
There’s even a special sensory-friendly “Silent Santa” session from 10am to 12pm on December 16, ideal for children with special needs. Supported by the Office for Autism, the more relaxed Santa visit ensures every child can enjoy the magic of the season. Bookings are a must, with details at the bottom of this article.
As the sun sets on the Christmas festival, you can jingle your bells all the way to the jetty at 8:30pm to belt out a few Christmas carols presented by the Port Broughton Combined Churches, followed by the traditional lighting of the town Christmas tree at 9pm.
Send off 2024 with a bang at Port Broughton’s New Years Eve Celebration
