Pick your own sunflowers, water their mates, and raise money for Cerebral Palsy
The creative farmers at The Barns of Freeling have been at it again! Last month is was in the form of a giant geoglyph in the shape of Australia, and now, another sight to behold, a crop of smiling sunflowers, all in the name of charity.
The Schuster family, who have diversified their cereal farming business over the years to also include an event space and unique silo accommodation, took a punt after a late November rain and snuck some sunflower seeds into the dirt.
Despite the rain drying up, the resilient little sunflowers have bloomed into a stunning crop of yellow, which with your help, the Schusters hope to turn into a fundraiser for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
Everyone’s life is better with sunflowers right? The public are invited to pick a sunflower for a gold coin donation, and then pay it forward by sprinkling some water on the next sunflower. How easy is that!
You get to take in the view of a spectacular-looking crop of bright sunflowers, take some home to keep you smiling, donate to a great cause, and do your bit to keep the happy little circle of fun going. Just grab the watering can provided, fill it up at the tap, and keep the sunny smiling faces happy.
Entry to the sunflower patch is free and will be open from sunrise to sunset until all the flowers are picked.
