Oyster Bay ocean views – Stansbury’s accommodation treasure

Abbie Tiller

Location, Location, Location at Stansbury Holiday Motel

Uninterrupted ocean views and warm country hospitality – Stansbury Holiday Motel is an all-weather treasure and the ideal spot to enjoy the superb Southern Yorke Peninsula.

Perched on a cliff looking out over Stansbury’s stunning Oyster Bay, the first thought you’ll have when you visit this place is “location, location, location.”

And it’s not just about the view from each and every room on the property. At the base of the stunning cliffs is one of the State’s most popular fishing jetties and boat launching facilities. Stansbury also boasts a luscious lawned foreshore, a par 69 Golf course with ocean views, exquisite dining at the Dalrymple Hotel, and there’s even the newly opened Lost Tide spirits cellar door to check out.

Follow the coast further down the famous “foot” and explore nearby Wool Bay, Edithburgh and the incredible secluded surf beaches around Troubridge Point. The inland towns also have plenty to offer as you cross over to “the other side” to take in Corny Point and the famous Flaherty’s Beach between Point Turton and Hardwick Bay.

Bay view meets warm country hospitality

For Stansbury Holiday Motel Managers, Tracy and David Millard, hospitality comes naturally. The 16-rooms of varied accommodation is just an extension of their home.

While regular guests no-doubt return for the location and the cozy, clean and modern rooms, the Millard’s warm country greeting also goes a long way. The couple originally from the Fleurieu Peninsula have managed accomodation in Balranald, Orange and the Yarra Valley. But it’s the Oyster Bay view which stopped them in their tracks five years ago, and all future plans include improving the visitor experience even more, and integrating themselves and their business into the local community.

Since taking over management of the motel in 2019, they’ve given the guest rooms a fresh coat of paint, had new heating and cooling installed, built an all-weather gazebo overlooking the bay and incorporated an idyllic seaside wedding venue for couples to tie the knot in paradise!

The pièce de résistance is without a doubt the elegant spa room. Complete with a private deck, guests can enjoy the uninterrupted bay views from the comfort and warmth of the spacious, self-contained room, or soaking up the sun outdoors.

There are pet-friendly rooms for those who don’t want to leave their fur baby home, a swimming pool with a rockstar view, a fish-cleaning area for those planning on taking home some St Vincent Gulf seafood and an RAA charging station – because as much as you’ll want to, you can’t stay forever!
