Farming, Food and loads of Entertainment at this weekend’s South East Field Days

Lucindale will morph into a mecca of agricultural innovation this week, as the South East Field Days celebrates 45 years of showcasing the diversity of the Limestone Coast.

More than 500 exhibitors will set up shop for the premier two-day event, turning Yakka Park into a one-stop shop to browse everything from high tech farming equipment, on and off-road vehicles, country-made clothing, education, food and wine and the obligatory five foot sticks of mettwurst no farmer can leave behind.

The event offers a hearty dose of entertainment, including the South Australian Yard Dog Association’s State Championships, appropriately held at ‘Kelpie Corner’. You can check out the local artistic talent at the Scrap Metal Art Competition, Sophie Thompson will be there to talk all things gardening and award-winning local country singer, Leah Briggs will be adding the vibe to the Entertainment Pavilion.

If you want to turn your home butchery skills up a notch, Butcher Girl Alison is sharpening her knives – she’ll be breaking down a whole hindquarter of beef on stage to show you how it’s done! And if you’re still hungry after that, foodies are in for an absolute treat, with a diverse line-up of culinary delights, from Tantanoola ice cream, Braising Boys tacos, Squid Squad seafood, Sword n Ox spit roast, Oranaise paella, Master Pho and the delicious list goes on!

It’s just $20 to get in the gate, $10 for concession, and kids are free. There’s a courtesy bus to help save your legs, or anyone with mobility issues can even hire a gopher to peruse the pavilions.
