Global applause for McLaren Vale’s ‘Wonder Room’

It’s little wonder South Australia’s raising a glass to Dandelion Vineyards. This McLaren Vale gem just took home the global award for Architecture and Landscape at the 2025 Best of Wine Tourism Awards in Verona, Italy.

Hosted by the Great Wine Capitals Network, the awards celebrate the finest wine tourism experiences worldwide, and Dandelion’s Wonder Room at McLaren Vale now takes its place among the best.

Owners Elena and Zar Brooks transformed an old tractor shed into a “Wonder Room,” where rustic charm meets modern style through floor-to-ceiling glass that lets guests soak up McLaren Vale’s stunning vineyard views while sipping on world-class wines.

“Zar and I are absolutely delighted to receive this prestigious award”, said Elena. “The Wonder Room was a true team effort, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished together. This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our team and our shared commitment to showcasing the best of our region through both our wines and the environment we’ve created.”

As a member of the exclusive Great Wine Capitals Global Network since 2016, Adelaide, South Australia, joins only 11 other internationally renowned wine regions—from Bordeaux to the Napa Valley—each chosen for their incredible wine offerings and tourism experiences. The Adelaide chapter is supported by PIRSA, South Australian Tourism Commission, South Australian Wine Industry Association, and the University of Adelaide, showing South Australia’s commitment to positioning its wine and tourism industries among the best worldwide.

South Australia’s Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison, praised Dandelion Vineyards for putting McLaren Vale on the map with this win, saying, “In just seven years, this winery has become a gem for the McLaren Vale, and South Australia, with this Global Best of Wine Tourism Award cementing its position as a must-visit winery.”

Clare Scriven, Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, congratulated the team at Dandelion adding that “this global recognition further promotes South Australia’s wine tourism experiences and wine profile as among the best in the world.”
