Balaklava’s Book Week Celebration with Top Writers

Book Week isn’t just for kids! Balaklava Community Library is hosting a free Book Week celebration featuring an author panel with some of Australia’s finest writers. Throw in some post-panel fun with drinks, snacks, book buying, and book signing, and it’s a book lover’s dream come true.

Joining the panel is Rachael Johns, the queen of contemporary romance and women’s fiction. A bestselling and ABIA-winning author, her most recent novel The Other Bridget, is a heartwarming celebration of romance novels by one of Australia’s beloved romance writers. Rachael mostly writes life-lit (aka women’s fiction) and rural romance because she believes there’s enough depressing stuff happening in the world!

Adding to the excitement is Tim Ayliffe, a master of thrillers who brings his 25 years of journalism experience into his nail-biting novels. His ‘John Bailey’ series, including The Greater Good and The Wrong Man, are page-turners you won’t be able to put down. Plus, they’re being developed for TV, so you might soon see his work on the small screen!

Victoria Purman, known for her knack for historical fiction, is a top ten Australian and USA Today bestselling author. Her latest book, The Radio Hour, offers a charming and funny look at post-war radio broadcasting. A regular at writers’ festivals, Victoria loves mentoring up-and-coming authors. She’s basically a literary rock star.

Finally, there’s Rhys Gard, who mixes culinary skills with storytelling magic. After years in the restaurant business, he turned to writing, and his debut novel, Four Dogs Missing, is a thrilling ride of art theft, revenge, and murder. Set in the picturesque Mudgee wine region, it’s perfect for anyone who loves a good mystery with a side of vino.

Guests are invited to enjoy a discussion with these incredible authors, followed by the opportunity to mingle over a glass of wine.
