Triple treat at Port Vincent with Aerobatics, Amusements and Germein
Port Vincent’s New Year’s Gala Day is back bigger and better than ever, with the foreshore shaping up for one hell of a party to celebrate the first day of 2024.
This will be there first time the 53-year-old tradition has kicked off since the Covid pandemic, and organisers are certainly making up for lost time, with loads of free family-friendly entertainment, and the pinnacle of the event being a live show from Aussie Indie Pop Rock band, Germein, fresh from touring the UK with legendary soul singer, Sir Tom Jones!
The sister trio, Georgia, Ella and Clara Germein, grew up jamming together on the Yorke Peninsula family farm , and were allegedly summonsed home for Christmas by Mum, Sue, to the absolute delight of a Port Vincent home crowd on Gala Day.
Germein released two singles in 2023, performed on the Main Stage at British Music Festival, Isle of Wight, joined The Corrs for their Australian tour and will open for Tom Jones on his Summer tour of Australian in 2024.
Keeping it in the family, Dad Tim, will also grace the stage at Gala Day, with eight piece rhythm and blues band Gumbo Ya Ya. And with a strong emphasis on showcasing the incredible offerings of the Yorke Peninsula, Josh Rudduck, aka JR Acoustic, will also be giving the New Year’s crowd a reason to get up out of their seats.
Kicking off a little later than past events, there’ll be plenty to see and do from 2pm, with market stalls, amusements and show rides, the Drumming Monkeys, free face-painting, Plaster Funhouse and a sand castle competition. A sensational aerobatic display by the Silver Sharks will wow the crowd in the early evening.
And a little added fun for the adults will be a licensed area with seating and a delicious choosing of South Aussie’s best drops, from Minlaton’s Watsacowie Brewery, Sunnyhill Distillery, Flinders Gin and Vincent the Provedore.
As well as the usual favourites for food – Vincent Kiosk, the Ventnor Hotel and Vincent the Provedore, other YP food vans will be catering for the crowd, including YP Pizza, BA Fisheries, Port Vincent Oysters, Grazing Yorkes, Spuds N More and CFS BBQ.
With a view straight out to Gulf St Vincent, and the forecast looking favourable for a nighttime fireworks spectacular, Port Vincent will be the place to be to begin 2024 on the right foot.
