Free stock pellets and support for Murraylands farmers hit hard by drought

Farmers in the Murraylands Region get a helping hand with free livestock pellets

This year’s been a rough one for farmers in South Australia, with some of the worst drought conditions in memory.

To lend a hand, the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) is rolling into Mannum with much-needed support for drought-affected farmers in the Murraylands region. They’re offering free one-tonne bulker bags of livestock pellets to help keep stock fed during these tough times.

Not only has the 2024 season served up a shit sandwich to these farmers, but for almost a decade this region has faced below-average conditions.

RRT’s Farmers Community Connect events are more than just about supplies. Along with the donation of stock feed, there’ll be a free BBQ, Krispy Kreme donuts, and barista-made coffee. Sure, coffee and donuts won’t fix the drought, but it’s a welcome break from the grind and a chance to connect with others who understand the struggles firsthand. Plus, local support organisations will be on hand to share information and advice on everything from mental health to rural aid.

The Rapid Relief Team, or RRT, is a volunteer-driven organisation founded in 2013. They’re all about showing up in times of need—whether it’s fire, drought, or other crises. Their volunteers step in with care and compassion, delivering practical help like food, supplies, and hands-on support.

If you’re a farmer in the area or know someone who could use a bit of support, don’t miss out on this day. It’s all about lending a hand and bringing the community together when it matters most.
