Experience the Wonders of the Universe under the Outback Sky
Held during the week of the new moon in April, International Dark Skies Week is an opportunity for people across the world to turn off their lights and look up at the beauty of the night sky.
During International Dark Skies Week, both locations provide guided astronomy tours led by experienced experts from Stellar Science, for a rare opportunity to see the night sky as it was meant to be seen – free from the distractions of light pollution.
The guided tours are an opportunity to learn about the constellations, planets, and other celestial objects. Armed with a powerful telescope you’ll be able to get up close and personal with the wonders of the universe.
The guides will help you identify the key international constellations as well as those of traditional landowners. You’ll also see globular clusters, and nebulae, as well as a glimpse of Saturn and Jupiter. Adding to the night, and as a memento, an image will be captured of you with the night sky as a backdrop.
With stargazing opportunities available at Willow Springs from Friday to Tuesday and Mt Little Station on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout April, the Flinders Ranges transforms into one of the darkest accessible places in Australia providing the perfect adventure to see our southern sky at its best.
Spaces for tours are limited, so don’t miss your chance to experience an unforgettable night under the star-studded skies of SA’s outback.
