“Are You Bogged Mate?” Founder Mary O’Brien to Speak in Cleve
Emmetts in Cleve on the Eyre Peninsula is hosting a special event aimed at helping country blokes talk about mental health and suicide while raising awareness about depression in the bush. This free-to-attend event is designed to offer support and spread vital information to those in need.
Winter can be an especially tough time for those struggling with depression. Country blokes face challenges like never before, and it takes real courage to admit when you’re bogged.
This session will feature Mary O’Brien, the founder of “Are You Bogged Mate?” and aims to break the stigma surrounding seeking help for depression and suicide, share the warning signs that a mate might be struggling and connect rural men to the resources available.
“Are You Bogged Mate?” started with an article that gained international attention, highlighting the disconnect in how depression is communicated to country men.
By holding events like these and starting a conversation, “Are You Bogged Mate?” aims to confront the challenges rural men face daily, talk openly about mental health, and light the path to support.
