Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy – Tour De Cure riders spread their message while raising $500k to cure Cancer
A passionate pack of riders have hit the road this morning, with a mission to raise $500,000 to fund Cancer research, support prevention projects in South Australia and deliver a powerful cancer prevention message to school students along the way.
Tour de Cure’s 2024 South Australian Discovery Tour officially began at Bridgewater, with a group of around 100 riders and support crew setting out on a 386 kilometre tour, taking in the lush vineyards of McLaren Vale to the pristine shores of Wirrina Cove and the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Along the way, riders will roll into schools at McLaren Flat and Myponga, spreading the TDC cancer prevention message, “Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy”- teaching children that one in there cancers can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices.
Funds raised from the SA Discovery Tour will support cancer research projects at Flinders Foundation and Tour de Cure, two organisations dedicated to improving cancer outcomes and patient care.
Established in 2007, Tour de Cure has raised over $118 million, funding 1,000 projects in research, support, and prevention, contributing to 150 significant cancer research breakthroughs.
Flinders Foundation collaborates with the community to support health and medical research, patient care, and community well-being. Funds raised support cancer research at Flinders University and the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.
During the SA Discovery Tour, cancer support grants will be donated to the Adelaide Head and Neck Cancer Support Group, as well as Fleurieu Cancer Support Foundation – funding a transport service which runs daily to Adelaide and/or Noarlunga taking clients for cancer related treatment and medical appointments.
