Bullrush clothing growing three decades on
It’s been 30 years since talented South Aussie business woman, Kerry Mosey, introduced us to her stylish country clothing brand, BullRush, and to celebrate, the popular brand has opened an exciting new flagship store in Kapunda.
Mosey, who first opened a store in Burra and then Broken Hill, has returned to her roots in Allendale North, with big plans for the globally recognised brand.
Joining forces with her daughter, Tilly Nicholls, who has inherited her Mum’s natural flair for business, the third BullRush outlet opened in the Main Street of Kapunda on the weekend, to the delight of locals and tourists.
Previously a pop-up shop near the town bakery, the new bricks and mortar store has been fitted out to accommodate the popular Australian label. A design studio and warehouse in a beautifully restored barn is also underway on Mosey’s Allendale North property. For the Burra and Broken Hill stores it will be business as usual.
The Bullrush story goes back to the early 90’s, when Mosey recognised a niche market for quality, locally produced clothing aimed at the Australian rural demographic. After three years of quality testing, the brand was released in 1994 and has gone from strength to strength since then, with the Covid pandemic attributing to a significant increase in online sales.
This called for the expertise of the next generation, with daughter Tilly stepping up to navigate the fast-paced world of online sales. “Tilly has a better grip on the fast pace changes with ecommerce…in my day, we did print media like Country Style and Outback magazines, along with the very expensive and slow method of catalogue mail-outs,” Mosey said.
The duo is dedicated to all aspects of highly successful South Australian business, from fashion designs, finance, management, pattern making, production, photography and graphic design.
