Gozney crowns Barossa a top foodie destination
Who is Gozney, you might ask? No idea. But we do know they’ve got damn good taste, because they’ve just named the Barossa Valley Wine Trail the third-best foodie road trip in Australia. That’s right – SA has once again proven that when it comes to eating and drinking your way through life, we do it better than most.
Gozney (a premium pizza oven brand, of all things) crunched the numbers on 40 of Australia’s top road trips, scoring them on everything from campsites to beaches. But we all know that any list involving food and wine was always going to have the Barossa sitting pretty.
And if you haven’t experienced it yet, what the hell are you waiting for? This road trip is a feast for the senses – literally. It takes you through two of Australia’s best wine regions – the Barossa, home to world-class Shiraz, and the Clare Valley, where Riesling reigns supreme. Along the way, you’ll stop at places like Tanunda and Angaston, where history, culture, and mouthwatering food collide.
If you want to crank it up a notch you can soar over the vineyards in a hot air balloon before indulging in a long lunch at Hentley Farm or Appellation. Swing by Artisans of Barossa for a tasting (it’s been described as heavenly, and we’re not arguing). And, of course, no Barossa foodie trip is complete without a visit to Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop and Eatery – because if you haven’t sampled local produce while standing on sacred Maggie ground, have you even been to the Barossa?
So there you have it. Third place? We’ll take it. But let’s be honest – when it comes to foodie road trips, the Barossa is always number one where it counts.
