Art Shows, Workshops, and a Special ‘Desert Stories’ Exhibition at the iconic Prairie Hotel
The 20th annual Brush With Art festival is about to turn the Flinders Ranges into a canvas of creativity. This springtime event is an art lover’s paradise, with a variety of exhibitions and workshops spread across the stunning outback landscape.
A must-see event is the Desert Stories: Eastern & Western Art Showcase at the Prairie Hotel in Parachilna. From October 11 to 13, this special exhibition, displayed throughout the iconic hotel and put together with Eastern Desert Arts and Tingari Arts, will feature some incredible Indigenous art from Australia’s Eastern and Western deserts. The event kicks off with a cocktail party on October 11 and includes a delicious degustation dinner the following night, all set against the backdrop of amazing art.
Created by and for local artists, A Brush with Art Festival provides an essential platform to showcase the artwork of rural and outback artists. From seasoned talents to emerging stars, visitors can wander through different stops along the art trail, meet passionate country artists, and watch them at work while soaking in the breathtaking surroundings of the Flinders Ranges.
The month-long artistic celebration features everything from classic landscapes to modern pieces, and a mix of mosaics, woodwork, macramé, and sculpture. You’ll see works by local school kids and artists from all walks of life, offering a genuine look at the creative spirit of the region.
And on your travels, why not tap into your own creativity with some fun workshops? Try your hand at watercolour painting, create your own mandalas, experiment with natural basket weaving, or even take on Stobie Pole Art.
