One-on-one business mentoring, tender workshops and succession planning — Free events designed to help local businesses grow
Running a small business often means the important jobs get pushed to tomorrow.

That’s why Adelaide Plains Council is calling in the experts and hosting four Small Business Week events from August 18 to 20. The focus is on giving local businesses real tools, real conversations and practical advice they can put into action straight away.
Bring That Task You’ve Been Avoiding
Adelaide Plains Small Business Week will get straight into it with Get Stuff Done – Building a Stronger Business at Mallala Community Centre. Business owners can bring along one priority task and run it by the experts from Sea to Valley Start Ups.
Whether it’s working on your marketing plan, reviewing pricing and profitability, planning a new product or service or finally tackling that business idea that’s been sitting on the backburner, experienced entrepreneur and business mentor Wendy Perry will be there to provide one-on-one guidance.
If you’ve ever wondered how businesses win work on major projects, here’s another workshop could be worth your time.
The Reeves Plains Energy Hub Tender Support Workshops will help local businesses understand how to prepare competitive tenders and position themselves for future work. Run by Alinta Energy and local business support organisation, AJF Professional Services, participants will receive a free follow-up session with a professional bid consultant after the workshop.
The week’s hero event will be held on Wednesday night at Two Wells Bowling Club. Over pizza and drinks, small and family businesses owners, major regional employers, developers, industry and Council representatives will hear from Nev Smith, CEO of Rawnsley Park Station and Barossa Shiraz Estate. Nev will share his story of stepping into a third-generation family business and helping guide its next chapter – from a working sheep station to one of South Australia’s most respected tourism businesses. Nev and his father Tony will offer valuable insights into succession planning, leadership transition and securing the future of a business with purpose, care and long-term vision.
Rounding out the week is the Small Business Resilience Hub, where business owners can simply walk in and have free one-on-one conversations with experts in cyber security, marketing, wellbeing, regional business support and Council services. No presentations. No pressure. Just practical advice.
