Burra Heritage Bikes brings E-Bike fun to South Australia’s historic town

A new way to discover Burra’s historical past has arrived with Burra Heritage Bikes, putting a fresh spin on the town’s classic heritage trail.

Launching October 30, this adventure lets you explore Burra’s iconic sites including Burra Monster Mine, Redruth Gaol, and Hampton Village. And thanks to some new e-bikes and the trusty Burra Heritage Passport, you can glide from one historic spot to another with ease.

With UNESCO World Heritage status on the horizon for Burra, this experience is perfect for history buffs, families, and tourists keen to explore Burra’s charm in a whole new way.

Available at the Burra Caravan and Camping Grounds, these new e-bikes make even Burra’s steep hills feel like a breeze. The experience is a collaboration between Kent Wewzow of Clare Valley’s Riesling Trail Bike Hire (the longest-running bike hire operator in the region) and the Regional Council of Goyder, supported by the Activating Heritage Tourism Program.

David Stevenson, CEO of the Regional Council of Goyder, shared, “Burra Heritage Bikes provides a fantastic opportunity for visitors to actively engage with Burra’s fascinating history in a sustainable and enjoyable way. We are thrilled to launch this experience with Riesling Trail Bike Hire, allowing people to discover our town from a fresh perspective.”

Each bike has an impressive 100km battery life – plenty for a day of exploring Burra’s National Heritage sites. With a handy double carry pouch, riders can pack a picnic lunch from one of Burra’s local cafes or bakeries and enjoy a relaxed stop at a scenic lookout along the way.

Kent Wewzow, Owner-Operator of Riesling Trail Bike Hire said that he’s “thrilled to be setting up a satellite location at the Burra Caravan and Camping Ground and to be working in collaboration with the Regional Council of Goyder; they have a terrific understanding of the added value of tourism experiences.”

You can book your wheels for a ride through Burra’s history from Wednesday, October 30 by contacting the team at the Burra Caravan and Camping Grounds via [email protected] or call 0488 513 101.
You’ll find them at 12 Bridge Terrace, Burra, ready to set you up for a legendary tour on two wheels.
