Women On Eyre Health Expo Brings Expert Advice And Open Conversation To Cleve
Sound familiar?
Hot flushes, cranky moods, disappearing libido, expanding waistlines and estrogen levels on a pogo stick. Then there’s the dry skin, dry eyes and dry… everything!
Perhaps you’ve walked into a room and completely forgotten why you’re there, had your kids look at you like you’ve finally lost the plot, or squatted down to pick something up and spent the next 30 seconds wondering how the hell you’re getting back up.
Ahhh, the joys of getting older.
Thankfully, women are finally talking a whole lot more openly about what happens to our bodies through midlife and beyond, and a group of Cleve locals has decided Eyre Peninsula should be well and truly part of the conversation.
The newly formed Women on Eyre is behind the inaugural Women on Eyre Health Expo at Cleve Sporting Bodies on Sunday, October 25. And judging by the response, they’ve hit a nerve, with more than 200 tickets already snapped up.
Women On Eyre Health Expo Brings The Conversation To Cleve
Women on Eyre grew from conversations between local women who recognised there was plenty they wanted to know about their health, but living regionally doesn’t always make getting specialist advice or finding the right services particularly easy.
Rather than leaving everyone to trawl Dr Google at 2am, wondering whether their latest symptom is menopause or imminent death, Women on Eyre decided to bring some of the expertise to Cleve.
“Our Women’s Health Event is about giving regional women a day that is genuinely for them, somewhere they can learn, ask questions, find out what support and services are available, connect with other women and hopefully leave feeling a little more informed and empowered about their own health and ageing,” organisers said.
Dr Ginni Mansberg Heads To Cleve
Leading the day will be keynote speaker Dr Ginni Mansberg, a Sydney GP and one of Australia’s best-known health commentators, perhaps most familiar as the resident GP on Channel 7’s Sunrise.
Women’s health and menopause are a major focus of her work, and she’s also the author of The M Word: How to Thrive in Menopause. In Cleve, she’ll talk about women’s health, midlife and healthy ageing, with practical, evidence-based information about what’s happening to our bodies and what we can do about it.
She’ll also take part in a hosted Q&A, where women can submit the questions they’ve always wanted to ask but perhaps haven’t fancied raising over the counter at the local chemist.

The program also includes short Spotlight Sessions and demonstrations covering women’s physiotherapy, exercise physiology, movement and wellbeing, and gynaecological cancer awareness.
Jess Hunt from Port Lincoln Women’s Physio, Mackenzie Fennel from Kin Exercise Physiology, Tina Traeger from Cleve Massage and Wellness Collective and Deb Katslavos from Linsey’s Legacy are among those taking part.
While sneezing with crossed legs, creaky knees and forgetting why you walked into the room might give us plenty to laugh about, pelvic health, strength, cancer awareness, mental wellbeing and staying active as we age are important conversations to have.
More Than A Health Expo
Thankfully, nobody expects you to spend five hours sitting quietly in a chair taking notes about your declining estrogen levels.
Organisers want the day to be as much about getting together as gathering information, with live music from Jessie Hyde, stalls, a bar and an interactive Wisdom Wall, plus plenty to eat from Pete’s Woodfired Pizza, Pink Door, Wild Flour Bar and Desserts and Baya Bowls.
Tickets have been kept to just $15, with organisers keen to make the day accessible to women across the region, whether they come for the health information, the chance to ask questions or simply a good day out with friends.
