Tradition, treats, and Willunga in full bloom – what more could you want?
The Willunga Almond Blossom Festival is bursting back to life this July, bringing two days of family fun, local flavour and almond-fuelled festivities to the heart of the Fleurieu.
On July 26 and 27, the Willunga Recreation Park will be in full bloom with carnival rides, live music, market stalls, cracking competitions and a celebration of all things almond.
From tractor displays and target golf to roving performers, circus workshops and interactive science shows, there’s no shortage of action at this year’s festival. Bubble fun on the oval, performances by the Aerokids, and the Cool 4 Kids show round out a packed entertainment lineup.

The Willunga Almond Blossom Festival wouldn’t be complete without its iconic almond-inspired cookery competition. With categories for all ages and skill levels, the only rule is that almonds must take centre stage. This year’s Festival Cake – crafted by Andrea Ball of The Green Gourmet – gives tradition a twist, swapping butter for South Australian olive oil to create a moist, fragrant masterpiece. Entries will be on display in the Almond Hub, where you can also get crafty with free kids’ activities, pick up sugared almonds from local grower Pauline, and chat with almond expert Graeme for tips on growing your own.
There’ll also be plenty to keep your tastebuds happy – grab tea and scones at the CWA rooms, warm up with hot soup in the Festival Hall, or get your caffeine fix at Chloe’s ‘Hay There Coffee’ van. Atomic Burgers will be flipping patties, the Willunga Cricket Club will be firing up the BBQ, and a crew of food trucks will have you covered. Wash it all down with a glass of local beer or wine while soaking up the sounds of live music all weekend. It’s a fitting feast for a festival that’s been celebrating Willunga’s rich almond-growing heritage and strong community spirit for over 50 years.
Every dollar raised supports local clubs and community groups that call Willunga Recreation Park their home. It’s a blooming great cause and a weekend you won’t want to miss.
Gates open Saturday at 11am (with fireworks at 7pm!) and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
