Copper Coast Café – Moonta’s Taste The Yorke, Takes Out State And National Awards

If you’ve ever wandered down Moonta’s main street, chances are you’ve caught the aroma of freshly brewed Arosto coffee drifting from the award-winning corner café – Taste The Yorke.

Housed in Moonta’s old Roach and Sons Butchers shop, the popular country café celebrates the best of local, regional and seasonal produce and is known for its rustic charm, eggs benny, smashed avo’ and fruit smoothies.

Moonta's Taste The Yorke Cafe is the number one choice for an award-winning breakfast on the Copper Coast.

Since opening in 2016, owner Jo Gibbons has poured her heart into creating something special for the Copper Coast — and her passion hasn’t gone unnoticed.

After receiving the state’s top honour for Best Breakfast restaurant, Taste The Yorke recently picked up a national accolade – silver at the National Restaurant & Catering Awards – just pipped at the post by Sydney’s, Bowery Lane – not bad for a small-town cafe.

For Jo, being a small business owner in the country is about more than just running a bustling café — it’s about bringing the wider community together. Her famous breakfasts are sprinkled with Broughton River dukkah and drizzled with sticky wattle seed dressing. They’re made with the freshest local eggs and as much Copper Coast produce as she can source — from nearby bakers, butchers, and small suppliers who share her passion for keeping it local.

So, next time you’re rolling through Moonta, take a detour and Taste The Yorke. You’ll find great coffee, real country service, and a taste of the Copper Coast you won’t forget.
