A once-in-a-lifetime flotilla to honour the last great windjammer at Port Victoria’s 150th celebration

Port Victoria – the last of the world’s great windjammer ports is turning 150, and the community has gone all out, digging deep into its maritime roots to bring something truly extraordinary back to its waters.

On the March long-weekend, the calm blue of Spencer Gulf will once again welcome mighty tall ships, echoing the days when grain was loaded onto majestic sailing vessels bound for Europe via Cape Horn. For over 70 years, these waters were alive with rigging, sails and the grit of sailors – and now, for the town’s 150th, that history will come thundering back to life.

Big Boats, Small Boats, Yachts and Tinnies to Join the Flotilla

On Friday, March 6, 2026, a flotilla of tall ships, yachts, wooden boats and private vessels will sail into Port Victoria – including two of the most beloved tall ships in Australian waters, The Soren Larson and The One and All.

The Soren Larson – a 43-metre Danish-built brigantine – will make the long voyage from Sydney to Portland, then onto Port Victoria.
South Australia’s own 43-metre brigantine, The One and All will proudly sail from Adelaide to join the celebration. The two iconic ships will recreate a scene many locals have only heard about in stories – a harbour alive with tall masts, ropes, sails and seamanship.

The committee invites boat owner – big or small, yachts, or tinnies – to join the flotilla and welcome the tall ships back to the bay.

Their arrival will officially kick off a long-weekend of sesquicentenary celebrations.
